| "Painted Maya 2" Pastel on Wood 16x20" This is a look into the creative process of a painting. The drawing is the key; Its the life's blood of the work. Without a solid drawing, that you are 100% sure of, the painting will only reflect that weakness. The drawing is laid out in pencil and is underpainted in a grisalle (black and white). After the start of many layers of thin glazes of pastel pigment, which is rubbed into the surface. The last stage is the completion of the three dimensional forms and the relationships of all the pictorial elements. |
